
She was born in Tajikistan. As a teenager she moved to Russia with her family and started her professional career in theatre companies in St. Petersburg, Russia with Maxim Didenko‘s ‘Drystone’, Lilia Burdinskaya Dance Company, pantomime theatre ‘Gungo’ among many others.
From 2011 to 2017 she danced with the Russian-German theatre company DEREVO, based at Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden, where she met Daniel Williams. They began to work intensively together.
In 2020, she completed her studies at the Swiss Accademia Teatro Dimitri with a “Master of Physical Theatre” diploma. There she also created her dance-puppet show ‘Red Herring’, for which Daniel composed and played the music.
In November 2020, together with her Tajik-Swiss colleague Zarina Tajibaeva, she founded the association ReBellle Art. Their performance ‘Metamorphoses’ won 3rd place at the most important Swiss theatre competition PREMIO. Rebellle Art continues to produce projects and performances addressing socio-cultural, socio-political, gender and intercultural issues.
At the end of 2020, Makhina moved permanently to Dresden and works as a freelance dancer, performer and yoga teacher and continues her work with Rebellle Art and SLOGANS, and SLOGANS is very happy to have her bring her huge range of physical skills, and that she will bring that quality so rare in a dancer: she can be really funny on stage!
